Kuiper Belt

The Kuiper Belt is a region of dense asteroids beyond the planets. It is an asteroid belt, similar to that between Mars and Jupiter, but about 20 times as wide and 200 times more massive. This belt lies beyond the orbit of Neptune, technically 30 AU (Astronomical Units) to 50 AU from the sun. It is basically made up of the remains and debris formed after the creation of the solar system. In general, asteroids are composed of rock and metal, but the objects in the Kuiper Belt are composed of frozen volatiles like methane, ammonia and water.
